Admission Process Explained
The admission process involves three main stages: eligibility check, pre-selection and shortlisting, and final approval by the Governing Board.
1. Eligibility Check
The first step is to verify that you meet the basic eligibility requirements. This will be handled by the programme coordination team at IPU Berlin, in collaboration with the University of Padua (UNIPD), which has extensive experience in assessing international qualifications. If you are found ineligible, you will be notified within two months of the application deadline.
2. Pre-selection and Shortlisting
If you meet the eligibility criteria, your application will be reviewed by at least two academic coordinators from different partner universities. They will evaluate your academic achievements and potential on a 100-point scale:
- Academic performance: Worth up to 70 points, based on your GPA
- Relevant experience: 1) Internship/Work/Training (valued at up to 15 points); 2) Volunteering/Advocacy/Civic Engagement (valued at up to 10 points), 3) Scientific Publications (valued at up to 5 points)
- Once all applications have been scored, the evaluators will create a shortlist of candidates. If you are not shortlisted, you will be notified within two months of the deadline and provided with guidance on how to appeal, should you choose to do so.
3. Final Approval and Notification
The shortlist is then reviewed by the Governing Board for final approval. If you are selected, you will be informed about your admission status. You will also receive information on whether you have been awarded a scholarship, placed on a reserve list, or admitted as a self-funded student. Along with this, you will receive a student agreement outlining the terms.
Once the cohort is finalised, the Governing Board will submit the list of admitted students to the European Commission. If you are chosen, keep an eye out for exciting updates and events from the Erasmus Mundus programme!
